“Enlightenment” – this image was photographed at King’s Canyon National Park in California.
For millennia, man has sojourned to behold the meditative waters of the Eastern Sierras. At 12,000 feet, tranquil water and crisp air foster a visual moment as timeless as the canyon rock. This is the moment of “Enlightenment.”
I hiked nine miles through the majestic mountains, attentive to the rhythm of my breath as the satisfying crunch of snow beneath my boots provided percussive accompaniment. As I approached the jagged precipice, my gaze skimmed across the pristine surface of the canyon lake. My steps halted; silence replaced the harmonized anthem of my breath and boots. Even my mind fell mute to nurture a moment of pure experience, no longer tethered by my walking thoughts. My legs had climbed 12,000 steps; my soul had soared to the heavens.
